RANCH
HISTORY
Brian and Richard
Poland are third-generation ranchers in south-central Kansas. They began
the Angus herd in 1981 with the purchase of 10 high performing females
from Arlos Rusk and the Rusk Ranch. The following high performing bulls
have been used to produce the 150 cows that now make up the Poland Angus
Ranch herd:
- QLC Target
- Pine Drive
Big Sky
- QAS Traveler
23-4
- Tehama
Bando 155
- Hoff Hi
Spade SC 491
- GDAR Rito
596 LT
- Scotch
Cap
- Finks 5522-6148

Poland Angus Ranch
continues to use bulls that excel in improving carcass marbling and
rib eye area with the utilization of the breed leaders:
In November 1997,
American Breeders Service purchased a portion of PAR
B Design Plus 97, a product of the Poland Angus Ranch breeding
program. Design Plus 97 combines four generations of positive carcass
marbling in a very attractive package (B/R New Design 036 - Finks 5522-6148
- Tehama Bando 155 - QAS Traveler 23-4). Look him up in the 1999 ABS Beef
Sire
directory.
Poland Angus Ranch
is involved in their local community in a number of ways. Youth programs
are supported through premiums at local county fairs, sponsoring
summer softball and baseball teams and by hosting a Judging contest
at the Ranch each year. The judging contest consists of eight classes
of breeding cattle. Each class has complete EPDs and performance data,
along with a scenario for each class to assist the contestants in selecting
animals that will best fulfill the requirements of the operator.
Please come
by the ranch to look over the cattle - we are always proud to show
them off!
